As I have mentioned here, I am a "typical" Software Engineer working in a "typical" Indian Software Company, that specialises in calling bug-fixing as development. Yeah, lame...I know. Siunce joining this stupid company, I was not very satisfied due to a few bad experiences right from the very begnning. On top of that I had a wonderful Technical Manager and Project Manager who were more than concerned to make us stretch, no matter what. So ultimately, once I was moved from one team to another albeit under the same TM, I agreed under the condition that I should be given dev. So after much cajoling, I agreed, but no use. It was a worse team than I had been earlier. Only bug-fixes and the PM was one fuckin' b******. Am the kind of guy who loves to work, provided the work is good. So I refused to work. A few days in the project and I asked for a release. These guys being great, first refused. Then seeing my "signs of protest", they finally agreed.
After released I moved to a new project for an excellent client, Nortel. Now this is where my earlier team had moved to. From what I heard, the TM is good. This project also seemed good. We had some good training, and were put into Development. Here one of my good friends quit to join another company. So I too tried, but not many calls came in and I did not clear. I felt very dejected. I always had a low self-confidence and this helped me hit much lower.
I stopped this process for sometime and concentrated on my SCJP and strengthened my JAVA skills. I cleared an internal JAVA assessment. This improved my confidence level a lot. Now I attacked the interviews with much more confidence and cleared through in an other company.
Wonder of wonders, I cleared the interview with the new company on August 18th. I actually reported for work at WIPRO as a campus recruit on August - 17, 2006. On August - 21, 2006 I had signed the bond. I put down my resignation on August - 22, 2008. I am all set for release from WIPRO on Oct - 17th - exactly 26 months since I joined WIPRO. I will be joining the new company on Oct - 23rd.
Its all a happy ending and am REALLY looking forward to the new challenges. I still have to clear the SCJP 5 assessment which I aim to do by December. So keeping my fingers crossed...
